Tanya Langford (BSSc) is a Family & Domestic Violence Consultant-Advocate, Program Facilitator, Researcher, Author & Director of ‘I Am Woman Empowerment’ and lives in the Canning Electorate of West Australia. Tanya has worked in both the Government & Not-For-Profit sector & has experience across all the varied social issues in all demographics.

In the past 15 years Tanya has concentrated her career tackling the issue of Family & Domestic Violence. By combining her Lived Experience with her academic learnings & professional practice of supporting hundreds of women, she brings deep understanding of the intersecting issues that are known to be present in the lives of women living with abuse or even for those who have escaped, and the ‘systems’ that are not working to keep women and children in Australia safe or supported and in fact – has observed the problems worsening every year with rates of abuse and deaths continuing to escalate along with misery and suffering.

Tanya has joined the ‘Democracy First Movement’ and is running as a Senate candidate – to be a voice in Canberra to better represent the rights and needs of Australian Women and children, and to be part of what is needed to enhance the systems responsible for responding and managing F&DV including major overhauls of the Family Court & Police Systems. In addition, Tanya will push for greater focus on preventive education and programs to all schools beginning in pre-primary.

Tanya will also focus on tackling the rise of harmful Gender Ideology and seeks immediate cessation of puberty blocker medications; school curriculums overhaul to remove the infiltration of diverse sexuality education; and major reviews of all Policies in relation to young people accessing gender affirming surgery plus organizational ‘Inclusion and Diversity Rulings’. Tanya will bring back common sense that the majority of people in Australia are seeking to ensure Women only spaces and sports are maintained and protected.

In recognition of her work over the years in protecting women and providing service to her community Tanya has received numerous accolades and scholarships, most recent being – The 2025 Australia Day Community Citizen Award in The Shire of Murray , The United Nations of Australia (WA) Gender Equality Award in 2022, and previously was award the Australia Day Community Citizen Award in The Shire of Murray in 2020.
